Joe the Plumber, made famous during last night's presidiential debate's name is Joe Wurzelbacher. However, a MSNC article states he isn’t a plumber, because he isn’t licensed by the city of Toledo. According to the article, a representative of the Toledo Building Inspection Division said a plumber must be registered with the state and only then can apply for a city plumbing contractor’s license. In fact, he and his boss possibly facing sanctions from the Toledo Plumbing Board of Control. The Court records from his divorce show that Wurzelbacher made $40,000 in 2006, so he's also hardly in a position to purchase a business that makes $250,000. I should also point out that the business really only made an estimated $100,000. Even if it had made more than $250,000, only the amount exceeding it would have been subjected to an increased tax. In fact, under Obama's plan, if the business made $280,000, $30,0000 would have been taxed at the higher rate, yet it would have paid less taxes due to tax credits toward health benefits. I'm sure that's of little comfort to Joe, who probably shouldn't have gone in front of a camera when he's working illegally.
