Per this MSNBC article, the pill causes women to be attracted to people they are not compatible with. I suppose it explains a lot of the early divorces we've seen since the pill came out. Basically it states that you are normally attracted to people with different MHC genes and their body odors, but when on the pill, you seek out similar MHC-gened individuals, as your body believes it is pregnant, and will want you to be surrounded by family, which would have similar MHC genes, and be more likely to assist with the pregnancy and a baby.
