Say It To My Face, I Double Dog Dare You

An interesting quote by Obama to Charlie Gibson after the last debate:

"I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days, that he wasn't willing to say it to my face. But I guess we've got one last debate. So presumably, if he ends up feeling that he needs to, he will raise it during the debate."
Biden also is challenging McCain on this:
“All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on YouTube … John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him,” Biden said this morning. “In my neighborhood, when you’ve got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him.”

It's an interesting strategy. It sets up McCain with few options. First, he can stop the personal attacks, but with his poll numbers declining over the past month or so, it would be foolish to stop them. The other two options are also not good for him. He could bring it up in the final debate, or to ignore it and continue as he has. Judging by the CNN dials during the debates, he former seems to be unpleasant to undecideds. Ignoring it would make him look like a wimp. I'm tuning in to this final debate just to see what McCain responds with, if at all.
